Peter Tessier: Forward or Defence?
There's lots of discussion around the Jets being active at the trade deadline but there seems to be a slit about what to acquire- forward or defence? |
|

Due to the lack of "center" depth in the organziation, it has to be a Center.
If Scheif goes down, we are screwed. Roslovic is a RW and a potentially good one, but he is not a center.

Jets need a legit 2C to play with Laine and conners/ehlers, Little is NOT a 2C he is a 3C. |

For the record, Toby Enstrom was one of the worst transitions games in the entire NHL last season. He was 6th percentile in Trans60. It's completely inaccurate reporting to say we miss his transition game. It was horrible. |

Your reporting is bad, and you should feel bad. You used one flawed model to illustrate your point, and it’s contrary to basically all other evidence, eye test or otherwise. |

The evidence is he now plays Swedish B league, and he hasn't really even been that good over there.

Gotta be a forward no question about it. I wouldn't mind picking up a depth D-man again like we did with Morrow last year. But the big prize has to be a top 6 forward preferably Stone, Panarin, Hayes or Duchene |
|
|
|
here's the one stat I will focus on with Enstrom that I think is not to say he should still be here but that the team lacks that guy on the left side after Jmo.

It's not that Enstrom did everything well but he got the puck out and efficiently. That's one of many things not going well for the Jets this season.

Agreed. Enstrom will be playing pond hockey next season. Furthermore the top Jet over the last few years and definitely this year at zone exits and transition game has been Tyler Myers followed by Josh Morrisey. I've never seen the Jets have much of a problem in zone exits when Morrow or Chariot are not on the ice. |
|

|
Roslovic will be the Jets #2 center next season. Samberg and Stanley will fill the need at left defense so I think the Jets will not sacrifice their future for rentals. |

I am so sick and tired of this Enstrom talk. C'mon Peter. The man played 43 games last year. The Jets played great without him and he was exposed in the playoffs.
This talk is nauseating. |

Preferably not Hayes. Does very little to excite me. |

Does anyone really think that Lowry has the skillset to be our #2 center ?

Karma would be if Jets ended up with Brassard who plays a key role in beating Vegas. |

100% correct Benny. Lowry has absolutely no vision and questionable passing skills. He is perfectly placed where he is as a 3rd or 4th line checking type center who can cycle , muscle, and grind and wreak havoc on other teams top lines. He is a far cry from a playmaker. He would only make Laine's problems even worse.
I'll go out on a stretch and say that barring some rash of injuries you will NEVER see Lowry as a second line center. |

Only way I see Lowry play with Laine is if we get Stone. Been thinking of ideal lines with Stone in our line-up.

I could envision this scenario. Its one hell of a lineup. Moving Laine down to a third line role 5vs5 makes a lot of sense actually because of the type of opposing lines they would face. I might only switch Stone and Roslovic.

Top tier play driver. Selke level defence. His weakness is not vision, nor is it passing ability. He’s shown himself to be adept at both.
His weakness is Brandon Tanev |
